Oh no I am so bad at blogging! I always feel like I have to save this space for something incredibly profound, but I really think I should shut up and type.
I’ve been pretty busy recently because I’m gearing my way toward getting the print files prepped to do up the Volume 1 paperback for Lavelle. Once I get everything going I’ll be sending the files off to the printer and hoping for the best! I plan on premiering the books at SPX in the fall, although I might put up the ordering info on the site before then. I’m still kind of playing this by ear! WHOOPS.
I haven’t read any new books or printed comics recently, BUT I did totally just fall in love with Homestuck! I read the whole archives in a crazy binge over like three days. It feels like I’m late to the party because the internet’s already reading it, but if you haven’t, check it out! I’ve done some goofy fanart sketches. Someday I hope I have enough time to do more fanart for some of my other favorite webcomics!
So, this past weekend was MoCCA, and my second time exhibiting for Lavelle ever! The first convention I ever did (presenting the comic, at least) was last year’s MoCCA, and it was tough- it was hotter than anything, and I really didn’t get noticed very much. Although to be fair, I’d only started the comic a couple months before.
This year, though, was a totally different story! The weekend was beautiful and crisp, so the temperature in the Armory never got insane, and I felt like a total rockstar! Between meeting new people, and meeting some awesome fans, I’m pretty sure I never stopped talking all weekend! Hamlet and I had such a blast, and I was lucky enough to not only be at a table near the front of the show, but sandwiched right between a bunch of my good friends! We had a great time, and I’m so happy to see that people are out there getting excited about Lavelle too. Thank you again to everybody that came up to say hi to me; it means so much to meet people face to face who are enjoying the comic! I wish I could high five you all! :D (also: say Hi if you saw me there!)
I feel a little bad, though; I spent so much time not wanting to leave my table and miss anybody coming by that I ended up walking around the show itself very little. It saved me a lot of money I suppose, but I keep seeing other people’s reports on what they got and kicking myself for not looking harder. I gotta start making game plans in advance for this sort of thing, I think! I guess it’s a learning experience for SPX!
